President William Ruto has emphasized the importance of engineers in the country’s transformation and economic agenda. He believes that constant innovation in the engineering profession is essential for the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

During the 4th Engineering Partnerships Convention in Naivasha, President Ruto stated that engineering is the foundation of growth and development. The government is committed to developing optimal engineering capacity to support sustainable development in the country.

To ensure quality engineering standards, President Ruto announced the establishment of a Kenya School of Engineering. This initiative aims to enforce compliance with high standards among building contractors and developers, preventing the employment of unqualified individuals on projects.

President Ruto also stressed the need for a zero tolerance policy towards non-compliant structures. Action should be taken against those responsible for constructing sub-standard buildings to ensure public safety.

“Engineering is our growth’s bedrock; the link between a country’s engineering capacity and its development is well established,” he said.
