Netflix is expanding the universe of its popular Spanish drama series “Money Heist” with a new spinoff series titled “Berlin.” The series will focus on the character of Berlin, played by Pedro Alonso, and will explore his backstory and his most daring heists.
The teaser for the series, which was released at a fan event in São Paulo, Brazil on Saturday, shows Berlin planning a heist to rob one of the top auction houses in Paris. The series is set to premiere on Netflix in December 2023.
“Berlin” is created by Alex Pina, who also created “Money Heist.” Pina is executive producing the series alongside Sonia Martínez, Jesús Colmenar, Esther Martínez Lobato, and Nacho Manubens.
“Berlin” is the latest in a line of spinoffs from “Money Heist.” The series also spawned a Korean remake titled “Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area,” which premiered on Netflix in September 2022.
“Money Heist” is one of Netflix’s most popular original series. The show has been watched by over 65 million households worldwide and has won numerous awards, including two Primetime Emmy Awards.
The series follows a group of thieves who plan and execute a heist on the Royal Mint of Spain. The show is known for its complex plot, its stylish visuals, and its catchy theme song.
