Mashirima Kapombe is a bilingual reporter and anchor with over 8 years of experience in the Kenyan media scene.

She is currently the host of Nipashe Wikendi, a weekly news show on Citizen TV, and Sema na Citizen, a health news show on the same channel. She is also a regular contributor to the Monday Report Townhall session.

Kapombe began her career as a reporter and news reader at Shine FM while she was still a student at Daystar University. After graduating with a degree in Communication, she worked as a news anchor at KBC before joining Citizen TV in 2014.

Kapombe is passionate about gender and children’s affairs, and her work has earned her several awards from the Media Council of Kenya.

In 2014, she won the Youth and Children’s Affairs award and the Gender Affairs reporting award. In 2017, she won the Development Reporting Award in the Annual Journalism Excellence awards (AJEA).

Kapombe is a versatile journalist who is equally comfortable reporting in English and Kiswahili. She is also a skilled anchor who is able to keep her audience engaged.
