The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has apprehended the Assistant County Commissioner of Roysambu, Mercy Kavoi, on charges of demanding a bribe from a Mathare resident.
The resident had sought the return of his construction materials, which had been confiscated after his three-roomed mabati house was demolished on the grounds of encroaching on a road reserve.
Acting swiftly, EACC officers, in collaboration with local authorities, arrested Kavoi and her agent, David Musyoki, on Wednesday. Musyoki, upon realizing he was being pursued, attempted to flee towards Mathare slum. However, the determined detectives caught up with him, leading to a dramatic scene where he threw the bribe money to members of the public.

Upon apprehension, both Kavoi and Musyoki were escorted to the EACC Integrity Centre Police Station, where they were subjected to questioning. They were later released on police bail, pending the completion of further investigation into the case.
