Kenyan content creator Alma Mutheu has clarified her age after social media users accused her of lying about her age.
Muthue had initially claimed that she was celebrating her 17th birthday on June 28, 2023. However, this led to backlash from social media users who pointed out that she had previously joked she was 16 years old in 2022.

In an interview with Commentator, Mutheu said that she had been joking about her age and that she is actually in her 20s. She said that she made the joke last year when she said that “girls will forever be 16” and that people took it literally.
Mutheu is not the only content creator who has been accused of lying about their age. In recent years, there has been a growing trend of young people claiming to be older than they really are in order to gain more followers and attention online.
Popular content creators like Eve Mungai, Azziad Nasenya, Betty Kyalo, and others have previously faced social media backlash concerning their age.
