- For the first time this season, football fans in the country and beyond will witness an FKF Premier League game beamed live on the TV thanks to Tanzania’s Pay TV service provider Azam TV.
- The giant TV service provider will air two matches this weekend with the first being that between Tusker FC and Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday.
The match of the weekend however takes place on Sunday when arch-rivals Gor Mahia take on AFC Leopards at the Nyayo National Stadium at 3 pm.
This is the second time Azam will be coming to town having broadcasted the FKF Premier League in 2015 for one season. They however left the local scene due to constant wrangles that rocked the game at the time.
Although things are not yet clear, Azam has committed close to Ksh 8 million to air the two games. According to a source close to the federation, all 18 Premier League sides will receive an equal share of the amount.
For the Mashemeji derby, there is a lot at stake with Gor Mahia in much need of the points this time round.
KÓgalo is top of the league FKF Premier League table on 63 points two ahead of Tusker FC who might be top of the table before the two giants clash.
AFC Leopards meanwhile are eighth on 42 points and haven’t beaten Gor Mahia since 2016.
