In his first few days as the newly appointed Chairperson of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (Kemsa), Irungu Nyakera has gained valuable insights and shared his reflections on the initial challenges and experiences encountered in his new role.
Nyakera revealed three important lessons he has learned since assuming office, offering a glimpse into his mindset and approach to leadership at Kemsa.
First Lesson Learnt at KEMSA
The first lesson Nyakera highlighted is that “tables turn.” He acknowledged the ever-changing nature of circumstances and the need for adaptability in leadership.
The second lesson that Nyakera emphasized is the presence of more critics than anticipated. With his new position, he has become aware of the heightened scrutiny and the existence of detractors and haters.
Lastly, Nyakera stressed the importance of staying true to oneself. By urging to “always do you,” he emphasized the significance of maintaining personal values, integrity, and authenticity amidst the complexities of leadership.
With my recent appointment, I have learnt three things:
1. Tables turn;
2. You have more haters than you think; and
3. Always do you. pic.twitter.com/VcKlIpwjNe— Irungu Nyakera, CBS (@wnyakera) May 27, 2023
