Mozzart Bet Cup: Kakamega knock out Gor Mahia

On April 2, 2023, the Mozzart Bet Cup round of 16 matches took place across various stadiums in Kenya. Kakamega Homeboyz secured a place in the quarterfinals after beating defending champions Gor Mahia 1-0 in a tightly contested match at Bukhungu Stadium.

Emery Bayisenge scored an own goal in the 56th minute. Kariobangi Sharks also progressed to the next round after a narrow 1-0 victory over FKF Division One side Equity, thanks to a goal by Paul Okoth in the 8th minute.

Bandari cruised through to the quarterfinals with a comfortable 2-0 win over Mwatate United at Mbaraki Sports Club, with Joe Waithira scoring in the 51st minute and Umaru Kasumba adding a second goal five minutes before stoppage time. Meanwhile, Jafary Owiti’s 11th-minute goal was enough for 10-man AFC Leopards to secure a spot in the next round.

In another match that ended in a draw, KCB scraped through to the quarterfinals after beating Bidco United 4-1 in a post-match penalty shootout. The game had ended 1-1 after regulation time. The other round of 16 matches played on April 1 saw Tusker beat Rainbow 3-2, Sofapaka defeating Darajani Gogo 2-1, and Ulinzi Stars edging past Kenya Police 2-1.
