Kenedy Onyango, popularly known as Vidic, is optimistic about Nairobi City Stars’ chances following their recent 3-0 victory over Mathare United during match day 21 of the FKF Premier League on March 29th, 2023.
Vidic, who captained the team during the game, is confident that Simba wa Nairobi will finish the season strongly after a poor start that saw them stuck in the relegation zone for most of the season. “It was a survival decider. We were fighting for our team’s survival,” he said of the win against Mathare.
Acknowledging the team’s current position, Vidic added, “Where we are is embarrassing. But how we finish the race is more important than how we began. We still have a chance to fight and correct our previous mistakes. The only thing we can promise is to give our best, and once the consistency is there, we can beat any team on a good day.”
Vidic has played in all but one league game for Nairobi City Stars this season, completing 19 of them. He is the most used player, having spent a record 1,767 minutes on the pitch.
