Raising KES 30,000 Capital Doing Menial Jobs
Kihenu left his job in 2011 to start his own company. He had only saved KSh 30,000 after laboring for more than ten years, which he used to open Jimmy’s Choma Bite in Nakuru.
Then, Beth Wangari, his landlady, granted him the go-ahead to use her space to inaugurate the nyama choma zone.
He admitted that getting licenses ate up the majority of his startup money, which is why the company only started to take off slowly.

Jimmy’s Choma Bite was introduced, and a year later the company was profitable. He began earning KSh 600,000 in monthly profits, a return that has persisted to this day. Since then, he has established a second business in the same location.
