Chelsea are reportedly in a strong position to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer.

The 24-year-old has been made aware of the Blues’ interest and is considered a primary target for the club as they look to bolster their attacking options with another physical forward.

Victor Osimhen impressive goal scoring

With Osimhen having scored an impressive 25 goals in 29 games this season, Chelsea believe that he could help them compete with the likes of Manchester City’s prolific goal scorer Erling Haaland.

The club’s need for a new striker is largely due to their lacklustre season in front of goal, having scored just 29 Premier League goals which is more than only seven clubs in the division that are currently fighting against relegation.

Despite Chelsea’s interest in Osimhen, Manchester United are also said to be interested in the Nigerian striker, having previously sounded him out when he was playing for Lille. However, they are also reportedly keeping tabs on Tottenham’s Harry Kane, who has just 16 months left on his current contract.

The biggest challenge for both Chelsea and Manchester United in securing Osimhen’s services will be dealing with Napoli, who are notoriously difficult negotiators.

Victor Osimhen price

The Italian club is believed to be asking for a transfer fee in the region of €100million (£88m) to €150m (£132m). It’s worth noting that Napoli’s business model is reliant on selling at least one star player each season.

Overall, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be successful in their pursuit of Victor Osimhen this summer. However, if they are able to secure his services, he could prove to be a valuable addition to their attacking line-up and help the club to improve their goal-scoring record in the Premier League.
