Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the controversial son of Uganda’s dictator Yoweri Museveni, has sensationally claimed that it will take him and his army less than two weeks to capture Kenya’s Capital Nairobi, if they wanted to.
Kainerugaba, who servers as the commander of the land forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF), made the claim in a series of Tweets he shared on his handle that elicited daring reactions from Kenyans.
‘It wouldn’t take us, my army and me, 2 weeks to capture Nairobi,’ he tweeted.
‘I’m happy that members of our district in Kenya, have responded enthusiastically to my tweet. It’s still 2 weeks to Nairobi,’ he added.
Kainerugaba, who has been touted as the man to take over from his father as the nation’s president some day in the future, then asked his followers where best he should stay once his army completes the mission. ‘After our army captures Nairobi, where should I live? Westlands? Riverside?,’ he quipped.
The 49-year-old was only 13 years when his father took over as the head of a bush army in 1986 and has ruled, with an iron fist, since.
It is not clear what prompted him to attack Kenya and even mock Kenya’s democracy in saying: ‘Haha! I love my Kenyan relatives. Constitution? Rule of law? You must be joking! For us, there is only the Revolution and you will soon learn about it!’
