Outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta paid a visit to his handshake friend and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Karen days after the Supreme Court ruling that upheld the election of William Ruto as Kenya’s new Commander-in-Chief.
Raila has kept off making any public comments after Chief Justice Martha Koome delivered a raw and cold dismissal of his petition to nullify the declaration of William Ruto as the president elect. Koome’s choice of words drew contempt and disdain from the Azimio wing who felt she trivialized a process that is key in Kenya’s quest for a democratic electoral exercise.
Parte-after-parte
And while the president elect has been going about town, and beyond, celebrating the delayed victory, the conquered should-be opposition leader Raila has been off public cameras.
That was until photos emerged of Raila playing host to Kenyatta, his son Jomo and Siaya Governor James Orengo among others in Karen. Images shared early had Raila wearing a big black facemask that covered his face and his body language was not as positive as Kenyatta’s.
More photos without the mask however exposed a swollen face and lips that has left Baba’s loyal supporters asking what might have been. Indeed, there are reports that he has been taken to a hospital which we can’t verify. We nevertheless wish him a very quick recovery.
