Ulinzi Stars have announced Bernard Mwalala as the club’s new head coach ahead of the 2022-23 FKF Premier League season.
Mwalala joins the military side at the back of a near successful previous season where he almost led Kakamega Homeboyz to the league title which was successfully defended by Tusker FC.
The former Harambee Stars attacker and his entire technical bench were fired at the end of the season in July on ‘disciplinary grounds,’ to quote club chairman Cleophas Shimanyula.
He would however refute the claims, saying he learned of his sacking through the media and that they had personal differences which led to the decision. His sacking must have left the club’s players and fans stunned.
Mwalala, a former Nzoia Sugar and Bandari FC boss takes a reputable CV to the Soldiers camp and his task will be to push his new side to a far better position than the 13th they managed last season.
He will be assisted by Khamisi Abdalla Mohammed and Vincent Otieno who was appointed the interim coach following the sacking of Benjamin Nyangweso.
