The state through the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has dropped corruption charges against former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa under section 87 of the penal code.

Mwendwa was arrested last year by DCI sleuths for abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds. This came after Sports, Heritage, and Culture CS Ambassador Amina Mohammed disbanded the Kenya football governing body.
In December 2022, Nick Mwendwa resigned from his position as the FKF head, handing power to her deputy Doris Petra.

The prosecution team wanted more time to gather concrete evidence, especially from witnesses but magistrate Eunice Nyutu declined.
Mwendwa is now a free man but he could be re-arrested anytime in the future should the state find required evidence on the same case.
