Dr Esther is a young, energetic female physician with enthusiasm, confidence, and commitment to giving back to the community in which she grew up.
Chinese goes on to say, “all the flowers of tomorrow are in the seeds of today.”
Esther narrates her successful journey in the medical field.
Humble Beginning
As a child growing up in Kieganguru, I recall watching my mother go to group meetings in the afternoons and occasionally at night. When she returned home, she would tell my father about her day.
I remember her mentioning the Rwancege women’s group, and it became a household word over time.
She would explain how the group was allowing her to work with my father to finance little initiatives like providing piped water to our farm, upgrading the coffee farm and zero-grazing, and stocking and managing our agro vet.
Self- Motivation
Chogoria Complex (Nursery to Class Three), a school located in the heart of Chogoria Mission Hospital, was the first school I attended.
If my memory serves me right, we would occasionally see doctors going by our school on their way to their house around that time (it’s wonderful I get to say this now, tells me that I am getting old), and I would admire their charisma and elegance.
I used to look forward to giving way to them since we were usually playing as they passed by, and I used to think to myself, when I grow up, I would like to be a doctor like them.
Personal Aspirations
As I grew older, I had the luxury of witnessing my mother benefit from a group of committed women who were motivated to improve their lives and the lives of their children with the assistance of an organization they loved and were proud of.
I never dreamed that one day I would be working for/with the same organization that my mother had been talking about for years.
I got to notice an advertisement for a part-time doctor position at Village HopeCore International at a time when I felt the need to perform more community service. A
s they say, charity begins at home, so I applied for the role wanting to do what I love while also giving back to the town I call home.
Final Thoughts
As they say, charity begins at home, so I applied for the role wanting to do what I love while also giving back to the community I call home. Fortunately, I was allowed to do just that, and I have never been more grateful and happy to serve my community.

Having looked at how Village HopeCore International impacted my mother, allowing her to shape me into who I am, it is incredible to be a member of the same organization and witness it continuing to empower and serve others.
