Former Kenyan Premier League champions AFC Leopards have been once again hit by a transfer crisis from the world football governing body FIFA after the club went on ahead to recruit new players in the January transfer window when they had a pending case with FIFA.

This comes days after their official shirt sponsor Betsafe Kenya withdrawed it’s Kshs 45 million sponsorship citing tough economic situation.

FIFA has imposed a two-window transfer ban on Ingwe for signing the quartet of Cliff Nyakeya, John Makwata, Victor Omune and Josphat Lopaga while serving a transfer ban that had been earlier on imposed to them.

The thirteen times Kenyan giants are said yet to pay their former defender and captain Soter Kayumba Sh1.8 million who reported them to Zurich for breach of contract.

The Rwandese international had a short stint at the den in the 2019 Sportpesa Premier League before he departed in the same year due to the tough financial conditions that were facing the club at the moment.

According to sports journalist Kevin Teya ban is set to elapse in July 2023 as the club won’t be able to recruit any new faces to the team.

Leopards who are currently placed sixth on the league will be taking on Nairobi City Stars FC in a rescheduled match on Monday at the Nyayo national stadium.
