St Anthony’s Boys High School Kitale is a boy’s only extra county school found in Kitale, Trans Nzoia county.
School’s History
The school was incepted in 1969 as a day school. By then it was being known as Kitale Day Secondary School thus the surface of the school nickname “KD” meaning Kitale Day.
Later when the school was burnt down, Form 3 and 4 students were moved to St Joseph’s Teachers Training College resulting to the birth of St Joseph’s Boy’s National School Kitale and the TTC college being moved to Mosoriot.
After some few years, the school was rebuilt after burning down and later grew to a high school in the old education system with the introduction of A- level classes in 1987.
Kitale Day grew up to a three stream school in 2000 under watch of the Catholic diocese of Kitale and it was renamed to St Anthony’s Boys High School Kitale.
Academic Excellence
As in every school the core value number one is always academics. St Anthony’s Kitale is a giant in academics with no doubt. The students who have gone through the institution can attest that as most who study there end up joining top universities after graduating KCSE exams.
In the recent 2021 KCSE national exams released in April 2022, the school scooped a mean grade of 8.69 (B plain) with 75% of the candidates who sat for the exams sealing direct entry to university. The school was ranked in the top 100 best performing schools countrywide.
Co-Curricular Performance
In co-curricular, St Anthony’s performance is well known locally and across the borders. It offers variety of activities to its students. The soccer, hockey and scouting club are some of the activities that has put the name of St Anthony’s on top always more so soccer and hockey. In soccer, they were crowned as the KSSSA national U-16 Champions as same way with hockey the same year.
Players who have gone through St Anthony’s Kitale have went ahead playing topflight football as well as featuring for the Kenya national team “Harambee Stars”. They include former Kenya international Edwin “Eduu”, Kevin Kimani (Bandari FC), Phillip Mayaka (Colorado Raptors FC, USA), Tyson Kapchanga (Nzoia Sugar FC) among others.
Alumni’s
Guided by the motto “Education For Light”, the school has produced great men who hold top seats in the country and abroad. Some of those who excelled at KD include Mr Kennedy Mbuya; financial analyst (Aero Maintainance Services LTD, Dr Akoto Atsinwa; an Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon in Kitale, Joseph Kering; commercial director Vivo Energy, Bernard Mwalala; Head coach Kakamega Homeboyz FC among others.
