Tusker FC coach Robert Matano has confirmed his departure from the club after guiding the Ruaraka based outfit to their thirteenth league title in the 2021/22 season.

The veteran coach says he’s leaving Tusker because his job and role in the team has been shown disrespect and he see it’s time he cuts off the relationship with his employers and move elsewhere.

“ It’s better I move out than staying in a place where you work, work and struggle to achieve great things but no one is appreciating what you’re doing”, said furious Matano.

“ I better stay at home with my wives than continue forcing myself here, appreciation is paramount, It’s time to seek another challenge if available ” added the veteran tactician.

“The Lion” as he is known by many has now won four Kenyan Premier League titles in his 35 year coaching career. His first league trophy as a coach came in 2009 when he guided Sofapaka FC to their first league gong in their maiden season in the topflight league while the other three coming in his first stint with The Brewer’s in 2012, 2021 and defending it in 2022.

Matano rejoined Tusker in March 2018 from AFC Leopards winning three major domestic titles in his 5 year second stint.

His assistant Charles Okere and club legend George Maina will take over before the club appoints another trainer.
