Nzoia Sugar’s defender Salim Hamisi applauses teammates after league survival test.

Nzoia Sugar FC defender Salim Odeka is happy man after his side managed to survive the relegation axe in the just concluded 2021/22 FKF Premier League season.

The former Western Stima FC stopper say’s it was a hard task to accomplish but he’s greatful him together with teammates Hardwork payed off at the end.

“When I came here in January the team was somehow down, I was new didn’t know how the things were going to happen but luckily my coach (Salim Babu) was present to guide me and make sure I adapt quickly to the team’s system and produce results. The season was a tough one, I came at midseason from the second tier league which is a bit different with the premier league but I found myself in it since I’ve played in it before. I found it better to combine my expirience with my new teammates and eventually things started working on well”, stated Odeka.

Speaking to KenyanTrend after a 3-1 win against AFC Leopard’s over the weekend, Salim say’s he thanks his colleagues for dedicating their efforts and salvage the team from surviving relegation.

“I salute the Nzoia Sugar FC playing unit for their tireless efforts all through the campaign, it was a hard one to us but your tasks saved the club league status at the end, Keep the flame next season as we purpose to chase for a better slot”, said the 27 year old player.

Since joining the Bungoma based club in the midseason transfer window from NSL side Kisumu AllStars FC, Odeka managed to get 15 appearances with 3 assists for his team after making a premier league return after a year absence. He tips his employers Nzoia to perform well next season.

“We have a good young team blended with expirience under the management of a good coach, We won’t be chasing for the title but what I can assure you is that we will finish in a better position than this”, he concluded.

Salim Hamisi Odeka has previously played for Kisumu Municipal FC, Palos FC, Agro Chemicals FC, Sony Sugar FC, Western Stima FC, Posta Rangers FC and Kisumu AllStars.
