Muthomi, Saruni shine in Senior Doubles Badminton tournament in Nairobi.

Alfred Muthomi and Saruni Naais beat Naftaly Muturi and Patrick Waithanji two sets to nil (2.0) – 21:18, 26-24 in the seniors Doubles badminton tournament held at the Diamond plaza Indoor Arena on Saturday night.

In the semi finals Alfred Muthomi with Saruni beat Muchiri Peter and John Mburu (2.1) – 21- 15, 12- 21, 21- 9 as Naftaly Muturi with Patrick Waithanji sunk Patrick Kinyua / Sammy Ngahu (2 – 0) – (21-10), (21-15).

The objective of the Senior Doubles Badminton event was aiming to return the seniors into competitive playing as most have exited the competitive mainstream tournaments.

The tournament also acted as a curtain raiser for the Triangle Sports Badminton Challenge tournament slated for 25th and 26th June 2022.

The event was coming as a National Open tournament coming immediately after Commonwealth trials before the dust settles.
