FKF transition committee has confirmed officially the relegation of Mathare United FC from the FKF Premier League after the club issued three consecutive walkovers against Bandari FC, Ulinzi Stars FC and Sofapaka FC respectively last month.
The transition committee which was set up on Friday by sports cabinet secretary Ambassador Amina Mohammed to take charge of the transitional moment in the Kenyan football arena for the next 5 weeks following the expiry of the caretaker committee.
In a press release today, the transition committee has clarified that The Slum Boy’s will no longer be featuring in top flight football for not honouring three consecutive league matches.
According to the FKF codes and conducts, if a club fails to honour three league matches they are automatically relegated from the league.
Mathare United FC have once won the Kenyan Premier League title in 2008 under tutelage of former Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi under the captaincy of Anthony Kimani, who’s currently managing coastal side Bandari FC.
Some of the big names who rose up to fame with the club include Titus and Simeon Mulama, Dennis Oliech, Arnold Origi, Edgar “Fighter” Ochieng, Innocent Mutiso, Kevin Kimani among others.
