Chelsea have an uphill task today against Laliga giants Real Madrid as they will be looking to overcome a 3-1 defeat in the first leg to proceed to the next stage of UCL competition.
With some of the fans having hopes of a possible comeback at Santiago Bernabou after the 6-0 thrashing of Southampton away at St. Mary’s Park, the coach Thomas Tuchel seams to have lost hopes on the tie and now claims that only a situation of over performance can take them through.
Talking during the pre-matchday conference ahead of the game against Real Madrid, Tuchel revealed that the horrible display from his team in the first leg at Stamford Bridge nearly closed the tie for Chelsea and they will need to be on top of their game to overcome it.
“We need to overperform. It is a big experience to learn from and maybe to take and overperform.” Tuchel said during the press conference.
He went ahead to state that the players need to be more physical than they have been in the three games Chelsea have played against Real Madrid under the German, this he said will be limited because their opponents Real Madrid have the ability to slow game in their favor.
